As many of you might already know, the next Worlds tournament will include compulsory routine competition. In order to help athletes prepare for world competition, CMAT 21 will also be introducing New Compulsory Changquan and New Compulsory Nanquan divisions this year. All athletes participating in these events will be required to compete with the newest standardized compulsory forms. Please note, the new compulsory divisions will be replacing the nandu divisions – those who still wish to compete with their individual forms may do so by registering in the regular Advanced Changquan and Advanced Nanquan divisions.
Tiger Claw will be holding a Compulsory Routine Seminar on December 9th from 10:00am-5:30pm at Legend Kung Fu Academy in Newark, CA. The seminar will be $60 per person (space is limited), and you may call (510)668-1100 for reservations or more information.
For those of you who cannot attend the seminar, here are videos of the official routines for your reference: Changquan Nanquan
If you have any more questions about this change, please email the Directors at cmat.director@ucmap.org and we’ll reply to you promptly.
Thank you and have a wonderful end of the year! Jia you!
Are there age requirements/restrictions for the new compulsory divisions?
The new compulsory division will be divided into two age groups: 17 and under, and 18 and older. Athletes of any age may compete as long as they are registered under the advanced level.
Will there be separate compulsory short weapons and long weapons division vs the optional short and long weapons.
The only New Compulsory divisions we are running this year are for longfist and southern fist. All weapons forms will go under their respective normal categories. (e.g. Contemporary Broadsword, Contemporary Staff, Contemporary Other Weapon, etc.)
